This fantastic 1-mile open-water swim takes place at North Norfolk's beautiful Sea Palling beach.
Starting at the top reef, you make your way down the reefs, under the watchful eye of the RNLI, until you are level with the lifeguard station. This is a 1mile swim.
Open to anyone over the age of 16 who is confident to swim in open water.
This is not a wetsuit mandatory swim, but we do strongly advise you to wear one if you are not an experienced open-water swimmer, due to the potential risks of conditions changing.
We are following the guidelines from FINA with regards to water temperatures and wetsuits.
FINA’s research into swimming in low temperatures
FINA conducted research into swimming in lower temperatures and have used this as guidance to devise the rules around when to wear a wetsuit and what defines a wetsuit:
- Water temperature of 20o and above: no wetsuit.
- Water temperature between 18 and 19.9o: swimmer can choose to wear a wetsuit or not.
- Water temperature between 16 and 17.9o: wetsuits are compulsory.
- Water temperature below 15.9o: swimmers should not be competing.
Currently today (28th July) the water is varying between 17-18.5o, so it is down to the decision of the competitor if you wish to wear one or not. Should conditions change, we will inform you nearer to the event.
We appreciate your understanding with this, as we know many of you like to swim without a wetsuit.
Water safety cover is supplied by the RNLI.
This event is limited to only 100 entries!
